3 Reasons to Use Vinegar as a Natural Cleaner

Let me introduce you to one of the coolest sustainable & natural cleaners! Drumroll please……..

VINEGAR!

Despite it’s distinct smell, vinegar is a versatile product that can be used in so many ways (hellooo salad dressing!), but let me put you onto making it your newest go-to cleaning product.

3 Reasons to Switch to Cleaning with Vinegar

  1. It's Cheap

Vinegar is a cheap and readily available alternative to store-bought cleaning products. Last I checked a gallon bottle of vinegar will run you about $5 and will last you a LONG time. A bottle of vinegar can be used for a variety of cleaning tasks, making it a cost-effective solution. I typically dilute my vinegar 1:1 with water into a spray bottle and will use it on places like my bathroom, windows, electric stovetop, & dining room table.

*Pro Tip: If you want the smell to not be as strong, soak your vinegar in a jar with lemon (or orange) peels for a week prior to diluting and using. It will help the smell!

  2. It's Eco-Friendly

Unlike many commercial cleaning products, vinegar is non-toxic and biodegradable. It doesn't contain any harmful chemicals that can harm the environment or your health. So good news, when vinegar gets washed down your kitchen sink or travels outside via your pet’s paws, you don’t have to worry about it effecting wildlife or nature.

  3. It's Versatile

Vinegar can be used to clean a variety of surfaces, from countertops to floors to windows. It's also effective at removing stains and odors, making it a great all-purpose cleaner.

*Heads up to not use it on any pet messes because vinegar is not a disinfectant! Vinegar is an acidic cleaner so it’s great for removing tough stains and odors, but it is not good to disinfect.

When should you NOT use vinegar?

While vinegar is a great cleaner for many things, I don’t recommend using it on the below. If you use it on the below things, the acidity from the vinegar can affect coatings, sealants, and/or finishes.

It is not recommended to use cleaning vinegar on Marble, Granite, and Other Natural Stone Surfaces, grout, stainless steel, or electronics.

Hip Hip Hooray for Vinegar!

Did that convince you to switch? I’m telling you now that once you switch you’re going to save so much money and get a better clean. Try using vinegar for your next cleaning task and see the difference for yourself!
