My Top 10 Sustainability Tips

Let the countdown begin!

10.Bringing your Own Leftover Container to a Restaurant

I am the worst at finishing my food, and asking for a to-go container. What I hate about togo containers is that they can range anywhere from reusable plastic containers to single use styrofoam containers. While I do reuse them as best as I can, I’ve found that bringing my own reusable leftover container from home has been SUCH a life changer! No need to throw anything away, and you get to take your leftovers home.

9.Switching to Wool Dryer Balls

In case no one told you, dryer sheets are AWFUL for not only your clothes, but your lungs and the planet. Switching to wool dryer balls give you the same soft

8.Using Natural Lighting

Instead of turning on your lights every chance you get, take some time to turn the lights off and open the window blinds.

7.Swedish Dish Clothes

OKAY, now I used to sleep on these because I thought to myself… why?? But after I got some, now I know WHY. They are amazing and have saved me so much money since I’ve started using them instead of paper towels. When they’re dirty, just throw them in the dish washer and they are good as new! PLUS, one Swedish Dish Cloth can replace up to 17 rolls of paper towels. Nuts, isn’t it?

6.House Plants

Did you know house plants can improve your mood? This one also goes along with tip #8 because you have to open your blinds in order to grow happy, healthy plants!

5.Don’t Forget to VOTE

Voting is one of the biggest and easiest ways you can help improve our environment. Climate issues are on the ballot every single year, so it’s important to research your political candidates perspective on the environment prior to voting.

4.Keeping Reusable Bags in your Car

Now THIS, this has come in handy so many times. I always keep several reusable bags in my car so if I have a last minute grocery run, then I have bags ready to use.

3.Freezing Lemon Juice as Ice Cubes

This is more of a life hack that I wish I learned so long ago. When you’re fresh lemons are going bad, don’t throw them away (or compost them)! Instead, squeeze the juice into an ice tray and stick it in the freezer. When you’re craving some lemon water, drop an icecube in your water bottle and BOOM, you got yourself some lemon water.

2.Reusable Water Bottle

My water bottle has become my emotional support water bottle - how Millennial of me (when I’m actually considered Gen Z).

1.Bringing a Personal Cup to Coffee Shops

Obviously I had to save my favorite tip for last! Say “see ya never” to single use plastic coffee cups by bringing your own coffee mug to your local coffee shops. And YES, this works at Starbucks too!
