Rejection is OKAY

Even Walt Disney was once fired for "lacking imagination."

We've all been through it. We've all seen it. We've all felt the effects from it.

If you're like myself, you're probably not cheesin' as hard as I am in the picture above after you're dished out a little #rejection.

I never thought I would believe in stress dreams, or at least, until the other morning when I woke up with the strange sensation that my hair was gone. I realized that I had confused reality with my dream. I don't remember much from that dream, just sitting in a salon chair watching my hair get cut off while I could do nothing to stop it.

It's said that most people who dream about cutting their hair are experiencing some type of loss in strength in their life, and I then understood why this dream left me with questions. Something I hadn't experienced in quite some time had made its way back into my life - #rejection. It left me feeling like I had lost some sort of strength I had within to put myself out there again. The denial really shook my world and got me thinking...

Why does rejection scare us so much?

There is something about rejection that allows us to think it's ok to put ourselves down, but it shouldn't stop us from doing what we love and trying again. It is not a way to make you feel like a failure or meant to tear you apart, but to be denied something opens up a door of opportunity to push you to do better, to achieve more, and to prove others they were wrong.

Rejection has the ability to become the only thing that will give you the courage to achieve more than you ever thought you would.

Whether you lose a job, a friendship, or become overlooked for an executive position, rejection is necessary. For it becomes no longer rejection, but it becomes motivation. Some of the most inspirational people have failed over and over again to get to where they are now. Michael Jordan didn't make his school basketball team.

Oprah Winfrey was fired for getting too "emotionally invested" in her stories. Even Walt Disney was fired from his first job for "lacking creativity." The best have to fail before they can push themselves to become the best. Take it from Michael Jordan himself "I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

So if you find yourself facing rejection, let it be a reminder for you...

Rejection is okay.

It's the way for you to reach those goals you've wanted and the outlet to push you to work harder and improve yourself. Think of it like a bad haircut. At first, the shock shakes your confidence, but in time your confidence and hair grow back better than ever. So the bad haircut may suck for a while, but the end result is something you could never achieve it if weren't for this moment. The change will lead you to a new aspect on life as you grow into the new look and gain the confidence back.

You're the same face and have the same name and may have a new do, but more importantly you're a new and improved you.
