August 2023: Back to School, Limiting Beliefs, and Plastic Clothing

How is it already August?!

Me when I looked at the calendar yesterday 👇🏻

For some of us we’re gearing up for the school year! For others, we’re taking advantage of back to school sales and stocking up on new notepads, planners, and pens. No matter which side of the spectrum you fall on, here are my tips below on searching for sustainable school/office supplies!

  1. Shop Local! Many small shops in your city offer notebooks with unique designs that are perfect for collecting all of your thoughts and to-do lists. If you don’t have one, I love this local business in San Antonio.

  2. Try your best to use what you already have! In the past I’ve gone through half-used notebooks, binders, and folders and repurposed them for something new by recycling the pages that were written on and keeping the blank pages in tact.

  3. Need something brand new? Shop sustainable brands and products. I’ll list a few below for you that I love supporting. ;)

    1. Altitude - This one Target carries! The pens write beautifully (they even have colored gel pens!) and the notebooks have a cute aesthetic look.

    2. Bic ECOlutions - Bic has released pens made from recycled materials. Try opting for those this year!

    3. Sprout - These pens can be planted after they’ve been used!

    4. Day Owl - I just bought this backpack and I’m in LOVE! It’s truly a high quality, beautiful backpack.

Have any other school supplies you love? Hit reply and let me know so I can share with the group!

This month’s gentle reminder: Trash your Limiting Beliefs

“I don’t have time”

“I’m not smart enough”

“I can start once I have more money”

These are all things we tend to tell ourselves when we set big, scary goals in our lives. But what if I told you these are called limiting beliefs?

Limiting beliefs are false beliefs that prevent us from pursuing our goals and desires. They keep us from doing important things, like applying for a dream job or starting a consistent exercise routine.

We don’t need the start of a new year or some other big mile marker to decided when we want to change. We can change today if we want to.

So take this as your sign to trash those limiting beliefs and reframe your mindset to be open for change at any point in your life. You’re allowed to change the story at ANY point in your life. And for however MUCH you want to change. Don’t let yourself believe otherwise by telling yourself limiting beliefs. <3
