May 2024: Wedding Planning, Warmer Weather & Catastrophizing

Mood Right Now:

Hey, friend!

Happy May… (well almost June)!

I mentioned this in my last newsletter, but WOW this year truly feels like it is moving so quickly. I’ve been booked with plans almost every weekend, and as a homebody out of her element - I’m TIRED.

Wedding planning and activities has been a big factor in my crowded schedule, and since we’re 3 months out from the wedding, I thought I’d share with y’all some things I’ve learned along the way!

  1. Lean into untraditional things - There is SO much information online about wedding planning and it can feel incredibly overwhelming. My biggest lesson has been to throw traditional “rules” out the window, and plan a day that sparks joy for my fiance and I! For example, we decided the bridesmaids can get creative with their dresses. As long as they fit the color scheme, they can wear whatever they want. My goal is for them to rewear the dress again, so it was important to me to give them the freedom to pick something they love.

  2. Who said florals need to be ordered from a florist? We decided to do potted plants for our decorations with herbs and native plants. They live longer, are easy to prep beforehand, and absolutely stunning. Sounds like a win-win to me.

  3. Be absolutely SURE before you buy a wedding dress - I learned the hard way on this one. I personally was never that excited to wedding dress shop, but when I went with a few of my friends and found one I liked, I bought it without a second guess! Unfortunately, once I took it to alternations, there was no way to make the dress fit me the way it was intended to (whomp whomp), so I had to go back to the drawing board and buy a new dress. Now, I have a thousand dollar dress just chilling in my closet because the bridal shop wouldn’t let me return it & I haven’t had any luck selling it online (so if you’re looking, LMK!).

XOXO,

Krys

This month’s gentle reminder: You are More than a Body

With the spring means warmer weather, pools, and picnics. It’s beautiful, but swimsuit season can make us feel insecure. (I’m raising my hand, it’s me, I’m insecure of my body!) In case you needed the gentle reminder: your body is meant for living, not looking. So embrace the weather as best as you can and be present in those moments instead of focusing on things you simply cannot change. <3
