Is EcoTools sustainable or is it greenwashing? 🛁

Welcome to my series “sustainable or greenwashing” where I’ve been sharing if brands and products are actually what they say they are. đŸ‘©đŸŒâ€đŸ’»

EcoTools was founded in 2007 and is owned by a private equity firm. They’re easily spotted in Target, and you guys have requested it quite a bit. Let’s dive in!

Their products are vegan, PETA cruelty free, FSC Certified, and they use biodegradable paper and recycled materials in their packaging and products.

They offer a Bioblender sponge which is made with USDA Certified Eco Foam and they even mention it can be home compostable; HOWEVER, there are reviews of people trying this and it did not really work as evidence by these photos.

I also noticed that even though the brand claims to use recycled plastic for packaging, it still feels like there is an excess amount that doesn’t serve much of a purpose, and in fact I saw this while in Target that says it’s in plastic free packaging, but it’s very clearly packaged in plastic.

I wasn’t able to find anything on manufacturing and labor other than some vague comments that they are made in Asia and they “follow ethical standards” but there isn’t much detail on what that means.

So is EcoTools sustainable or is it greenwashing?

I do feel like EcoTools offers some positive aspects, but really they don’t offer enough information for me to determine if they’re actually doing what they say they are doing, SO I’m getting a little bit of greenwashing vibes - but what do you think? đŸȘŽ

I have so many more deep dives on my page which you can binge, but let me know if there is another brand you want to see covered and stick around for all things mind, body, and planet. 🌎

XOXO,

Krys
