Is Grove Sustainable or is it Greenwashing?

This article was last updated May 2024.

Welcome to the series where I see if brands and products are actually what they say they are.

Is Grove sustainable or is it greenwashing?

Grove started as an online marketplace but has since moved into offering their own products, which is what we’re going to focus on. Grove is a B Corp, Carbon Neutral Certified, Certified Plastic Neutral, EPA Safer Choice Partner, and their products are leaping bunny cruelty free, Phthalate free, Paraben free, free of synthetic fragrances, and their core cleaning products are USDA BioPreferred.

They partner with lots of organizations to back up their claims like Beyond Plastic, The Nature Conservatory, and The Arbor Day Foundation (Grove has planted planted over a million trees since 2018).

Supplier factories are audited to insure good working conditions and their aim is to be net zero by 2030. All of that plus more is easily available on their website via a recent sustainability report and plastic scorecard which includes concrete plans and information on their goals and initiatives.

So… is Grove sustainable or is it greenwashing?

Overall Grove products are definitely a better option and I love how they are available in @target which makes them much more accessible for those on the go since you dont have to plan ahead & order it online. It’s also a great example of the type of certifications and credentials you should be looking for when you’re shopping - but what do you think? 🌱

XOXO,

Krys Gier
