Is Reformation sustainable or is it greenwashing?

Welcome to “Sustainable or Greenwashing” series where I’m sharing if brands and products are actually what they say they are.

Is Reformation sustainable or is it greenwashing? 🧥

Reformation was founded originally to retailor vintage clothing but has since moved on to making their own clothing line.

Reformation is a B-Corp, Climate Neutral Certified, a part of the Fair Labor Association, & they are currently pursuing the Living Wage for US Tier 1 Certification to ensure living wages for 100% of their employees.

They’ve committed to becoming Climate Positive by 2025 & have several initiates clearly laid out on their website on how they are going to get there. I also thought it was cool they’ve banned certain materials from using which I’ll put on the screen here.

They’ve more reccently introduced the RefScale which tracks the carbon and water footprint of their stuff & as far as manufacturing and labor: they have clear ethical manufacturing and labor standards are outlined in an easy to access PDF on their website.

Reformation has partnered with eco nonprofits Canopy & Ellen MacArthur Foundation to work on circular clothing cycles which is cool & I noticed in my research they are SUPER transparent about their practices. I was able to find all of this plus more detailed information (like a sustainability report) on their website easily, which leads me to say that I don’t think they are greenwashing. In fact, I’d say this is one of the most sustainable brands I’ve seen so far. 🌎

So is Reformation sustainable or is it greenwashing?

As far as clothing brands go, I love reformation and would call this brand sustainable - but what do you think? 🪴

XOXO,

Krys
