March 2024 #1: No Buy Month, Limiting Beliefs & Greenwashing

I’m not buying ANYTHING this month…

Hey, friend!

March is the start of my “No Buy” month. And if you’re wondering what that means, well… let me tell ya!

A No Buy month is simply a month you challenge yourself to not buy anything at all. Of course, there are obviously exceptions to the rules for essentials (i.e. rent, bills, groceries, etc), BUT the goal is to take a step back from any spending to see how and where you’re dedicating the majority of your income. For me, my goal is to gain a better awareness of where I’m spending my money. Even though I’m only 4 days in I’ve noticed I spend SO much money on food. Not only are my groceries pricey, but once the weekend rolls around I have a tendency to indulge in a lot of take out. Knowing this, I’m going to better prep my weekly groceries to reflect on healthy, simple meals I’m planning to make at home.

LONG STORY SHORT: Whether it’s intended to help you save money, address your spending habits, or get a better understanding of what’s important to you - a No Buy month is a fun way to challenge yourself. It’s something I’ve been wanting to do for a WHILE - and I’m excited to do it this month! I’ll give ya an update on my experience once things are closing out.

Things I’m Not Buying:

  • clothing (unless essential for my wedding coming up in August - aka I’m still on the hunt for a wedding dress)

  • home decor, blankets, candles, etc

  • books

  • coffee shop drinks

  • anything for the kitchen like gadgets, utensils, etc

  • silly little hobbies (I’m notorious for picking up random stuff at the store)

  • makeup, skincare, or anything of the sort

XOXO,

Krys

This month’s gentle reminder: No More Limiting Beliefs

Did you know 9 times out of 10 you’re the first person to tell yourself no? It’s normal for us to create limiting beliefs in our heads in order to avoid emotionally painful situations, but so many times these limiting beliefs only restrict us from enjoying our life & discovering new passions.

Next time you feel the urge to to shut yourself down before giving yourself a chance to try - ask yourself what would happen if your limiting belief is wrong? You never know if you don’t try. It’s okay to give yourself permission to try something new or do something that puts you outside of your comfort zone. <3
