October 2023: Changing Seasons, Taking a Break, & What’s Trending

Spooky scary skeletons!!

Soooo…Is it October 13th and I’m just now getting to send out this email newsletter? Yep, that’s right. BUT does that mean I get to send it out on FRIDAY THE 13TH?! Also YES. How festive!!

It’s no secret that fall is the ultimate season. Pumpkin spice, falling leaves, & colder temperatures - there is nothing in that trio that isn’t just fabulous.

Here’s the problem I’ve been running into lately. Although we’ve basically just started autumn, stores have already marked down their fall garlands and Halloween decorations in preparation for Christmas. It’s pretty wild how quick consumerism can swallow your favorite holiday/season (we chatted that on the Mind Body Planet podcast too if you want to talk about this more).

Now I’m not sure how we can fix this, and to be honest… there is probably nothing we can do. However, it’s important to recognize that every year the time in between holidays seems to get shorter, but it doesn’t have to be that way for everyone. I encourage you to be intentional with what you add to your holiday decor this year, and don’t let big box stores tell you it’s time to move on when you’re not ready. (That mentality is for toxic ex’s, NOT holidays!!)

What are your thoughts on how quick stores are moving through seasons? Hit reply and let me know!

XOXO,

Krys

This month’s gentle reminder: Rest It’s Okay

I’ve always been an overachiever. In school I was a part of every extracurricular I could fit in my schedule, and I studied meticulously for every test. Mostly because that’s what I thought I had to do, but I find this mentality has really stuck with me as I’ve gotten older.

And maybe you can relate to this, but when I’m in that state I feel like it’s absolutely ILLEGAL for me to take a break. Even in times where I feel completely burnt out and my brain is so jumbled with thoughts that I can’t even speak a full coherent sentence on my first try.

Obviously, it’s not illegal to rest when it’s needed, but for some reason it feels easier to do when someone else is giving you permission. So here it is! Here is your permission to rest this season. Take a break from hustling if that’s what you’re needing right now. When you come back, you’ll feel reenergized and reinspired, and that’s what the world needs from you. <3
