Is Acure sustainable or is it greenwashing?
Welcome to āSustainable or Greenwashingā series where Iām sharing if brands and products are actually what they say they are.
Is Acure sustainable or is it greenwashing? š
Acure was founded to make clean beauty products accessible.
Their products are vegan and leaping bunny cruelty-free as well as Paraben free, Sulfate free & Phthalate free. They also note they are free from mineral oil, petrolatum and formaldehyde (donāt usually see those claims in the beuaty industry but Iāll take it??).
Packaging is made from recycled materials, and is recyclable or compostable after use. I like how Acure partners with TerraCycle to recycle their packaging. They also support a couple of nonprofts like Turning Green and Unite for Her to give back
They mention theyāre working towards a Climate Neutral Certification, but they donāt say much on how or when they expect to actually achieve it. And they also say their products are manufactured in the United States in ethical factories, but again no information on what exactly that means or how they audit their factories.
So is Acure sustainable or is it greenwashing?
I want to note that Acure is a family owned company, so I want to give them some grace, but overall - Acure wouldnāt be my top choice for sustainable skincare, but they also arenāt the worst option out there. Some of their claims donāt have enough information behind them which leads me to say itās a liiiiittle bit greenwash-y. š
But what do you think?
XOXO,
Krys
