Is Liquid Death sustainable or is it greenwashing?

Welcome to “Sustainable or Greenwashing” series where I’m sharing if brands and products are actually what they say they are.

Is Liquid Death sustainable or is it greenwashing? đź’¦

Liquid Death was founded in 2018 to offer a different perspective on canned beverages that weren’t just energy drinks & it’s really gained popularity due to its edgy marketing techniques.

One of their overarching goals and campaigns is #deathtoplastic - which you guessed it - advocates for the end of plastic pollution. The water comes in a tallboy aluminum cans which are infinitely recyclable & fun fact - of all the aluminum produced since 1888, 75% of it is still currently in use. ♻️

They’ve started the Liquid Death Country Club to “sell your soul” and for every soul they “sell”, they pledge a donation of $1.80 to plastic cleanup efforts. They also partner with non-profit environmental organizations to assist with beach clean-ups and climate change efforts like 5 Gyres & Thirst Project.

For sourcing of ingredients, I couldn’t find too much especially since they’ve expanding into a lot of different flavors and more recently teas. I hope in the future there is more transparency there.

So is Liquid Death sustainable or is it greenwashing?

I will say their website is not very descriptive, so I had to really deep dive to clarify some of this information, so I wish they were better on that - but overall, the brand itself seems to be sustainable - but what do you think? đź‘€

XOXO,
