Is Stanley sustainable or is it greenwashing?

Welcome to “Sustainable or Greenwashing” series where I’m sharing if brands and products are actually what they say they are.

Are Stanley cups sustainable or is it greenwashing? đŸ„€

The company Stanley was founded in 1913 & was one of the first to fuse vacuum insulation and the steel into a portable bottle, and it’s clearly made its way to be THE reusable bottle to have.

Let’s dive in!

Stanley currently uses recycled materials (in fact 23% of Stanley’s stainless steel units were made of certified recycled stainless steel in 2022), and they’ve committed to increasing this number to be making at least 50% of their stainless steel products from recycled materials by 2025.

They also offer a Built for Lifeℱ lifetime warranty, since their goal is to create products that never need to be thrown away or replaced.

As far as packaging goes, they’ve eliminated most conventional plastic packaging AND all their paper packaging will be certified sustainable or recycled paper by 2025 as well.

Stanley claims to contribute more than 1% of their net income to causes related to nature conservation and sustainability, access to the outdoors, and food security, as well as product donations to organization creating change in their local communities.

I like that they have an easy to access 2023 impact report which dives into wayyy more than I can cover in a 90 second video.

So is Stanley sustainable or is it greenwashing?

Y’all
. I’m actually shocked by this - but the Stanley brand is actually kinda sustainable. 😼

They check my boxes of having sustainable values and initiatives, plus their bottles are meant to last you a lifetime. So as long as you’re not overconsuming them, I think you’re in the clear - but what do you think? 👀

XOXO,

Krys
