Are Toothpaste Tabs Sustainable or is it Greenwashing?

This article was last updated May 2024.

Welcome to “Sustainable or Greenwashing” series where I’m sharing if brands and products are actually what they say they are.

Are toothpaste tablets sustainable or is it greenwashing? 🪥

The argument in favor of toothpaste tablets is essentially that tablets help reduce plastic by eliminating plastic toothpaste tubes & they also reduce water waste during production and transportation. Other positives are that tablets are travel friendly since they are TSA approved.

With this information, things seem good with toothpaste tablets - but we get into the nuance of tablets once we start to look into certain brands. For example you’ll want to look for a brand with third party certifications & ingredients that aren’t harmful.

For example Bite has an easy to access sustainability report while also being a B corp, PETA cruelty free, and carbon neutral.

Or Mintly which uses ultra clean ingredients with no preservatives or artificial sweeteners and refills come in compostable packaging. 🦷

So are toothpaste tablets sustainable or is it greenwashing?

SO I’m going to say toothpaste tablets ARE sustainable - but what do you think?

XOXO,
